The Royal House of Thebes is approaching its fate.
Recast in the shadow of Depression in the late 1920s, Oedipus Offstage delves into the hidden lives of Sophocles' characters, who are allowed to interact for the first time onstage. The palace that forms the backdrop of 'Oedipus Rex' is opened up into view, revealing those events considered too obscene to be depicted onstage in classical drama in all their horrifying glory.
